In the highlands of Panama, in the western province of Chiriquí, lies the beautiful mountain city of Boquete, towering above it is Panama’s highest mountain Volcán Barú, an active stratovolcano. Small plantations occur on the fertile slopes in the cool highlands, constant northerly winds make the plants grow slowly, intensifying the flavour in the beans.
Panama only accounts for 0.2% of world coffee production but it belongs in the top of the producers of premium beans. The medium-light body has a complex and aromatic character and has been medium roasted giving a slightly floral well balanced acidity.
Virtually all the beans grown in the small plantations in Chiriquí are picked by the indigenous Ngäbe-Buglé Indians.
