Originally, known as Rosmarinus officinalis, in 2017 it became scientifically known as Salvia rosmarinus. This well-known Mediterranean shrub has been known for over 7000 years, first appearing on cuneiform clay tablets. As well as its well-known culinary and fragrance uses, Rosemary is used as a tea, thought to relive headaches, colic, colds, and depression. Rosemary also has antifungal and anti-bacterial properties. It has also been used in traditional herbal remedies for a variety of ailments including asthma, eczema, wounds, and as an appetite improver. Scientists at Kew in partnership with Dilston Physic Garden investigated the medical potential to help memory. The study found a combination of Rosemary, Sage and Lemon Balm, improved memory in healthy people aged under 63. In Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Ophelia says “There’s Rosemary, that’s for remembrance, pray you, love, remember”.  It has long been used as a hair rinse and is said to stimulate hair growth, high in iron, calcium, and phytonutrients it is added to hair care products to provide hydration and sun damage protection.

It goes without saying that if you're pregnant (or are under the doc for anything) caution should be exercised with herbal decoctions.
