£3.50

The Sideritis raeseri herb, also known as Ironwort, Shepherd’s Tea or Greek Mountain Tea has been drunk for years as a traditional panacea for aiding digestion, strengthening the immune system, suppressing colds and flu, working against allergies helping shortness of breath, sinus congestion even pain and mild anxiety. There may well be some basis in fact as significant research studies in the Netherlands and the Republic of Macedonia, where this tea is from, have confirmed many of the claims. Sideritis raeseri is the most commonly cultivated species although over 300 distinct species, subspecies, ecotypes, forms and cultivars have been identified. In Greek Sideritis translates literally into ‘he who is made of iron’ and was a generic term for plants capable of healing wounds caused by iron weapons during battles. I have only found two possible side effects; one we always recommend avoid if pregnant or breast feeding and the other is it may possible lower blood pressure. Recent German studies have tentatively shown that Mountain Tea is the highest among 150 teas tested that aid in the prevention and maintenance of Alzheimer’s Disease. Google Alzheimer’s and Mountain Tea for more in-depth information.

It goes without saying that if you're pregnant (or are under the doc for anything) caution should be exercised with herbal decoctions.
