Peruvian Café Femenino Organic Fair Trade Whole Coffee Bean Supports Women Farmers

    • I take pleasure in drinking quality coffee and there are a few that I particularly enjoy, this has joined the select list of those that I keep in my kitchen. It has a good aroma, decent strength, a full body, slight acidity and everyone I have given a cup to have commented enthusiastically on it.
  • With a worldwide commodity, traded second only to oil, it is a good feeling that some of the money you invested in a cup of coffee is going directly to the people who have grown and produced it, rather than being swallowed up by big business.
  • The story of Café Femenino began in 2004 when women farmers from northern Peru began talking with their cooperative leaders about their desire to separate their coffee from the men’s.
  • These women felt they put more care into their production than the men, thereby creating a better product that could bring in more money for their families.
  • Female coffee growers have become better educated, better organised, and for the first time are producing women's coffee as a specialty commodity.
  • This Fair Trade and organic certified coffee is grown, processed and traded exclusively by women.
  • The women then decide how to use the additional funds to better their lives and those of their children.
  • You will receive 95 grams of these roasted beans for £5.00 this will allow you to make between 19 and 38 cups of coffee depending on cup size. Five grams per cup, the quantity of coffee used will be quite personal so these are guidelines only. This works out at less than twenty-seven pence per cup.
