Gruziya Orange Pekoe Loose Leaf Black Tea Chinese Blend Fantastic Value

Gruziya OP is a blend of Chinese leaves modelled on the original quality renowned Orange Pekoe from Georgia. The main growing area is to the western coast of the country around Kutaisi along the edge of the Black Sea. Unfortunately, quality diminished considerably under Khrushchev in his push towards planned production figures, the resulting lower quality tea being given to Soviet soldiers.

This Gruziya OP produces a mild pleasant blend similar to a superior China black tea. Interestingly the former Soviet Union is the world’s largest importer of tea; this pushes Great Britain into second place as we slowly change our habits into becoming a coffee-drinking nation. Georgia is actually the world seventh largest producer of tea just below Turkey but above Japan.
