We have been slowly increasing our range of Rooibos drinks and are pleased with this addition. Rooibos is a Southern African shrub found growing wild in the Cape coastal mountains and traditionally harvested by the Khoikhoi people. It is still harvested by traditional methods, cut with sickles, chopped up then placed in small heaps and sprinkled with water. As with ordinary tea, it oxidises and then takes on a deep red colour. The heaps are then spread out to dry. It is high in antioxidants, well known for reducing the effects of ageing. It is caffeine free and low in tannin giving it a mild taste. This quality Rooibos tea has been flavoured with chocolate chips, (sugar, ground cocoa beans with cocoa butter, powdered cocoa, emulsifying agent: soy lecithin), orange peel, flavouring, and orange blossoms.
