The Chamling Tea Estate is now known as the Seepoydhoorah Tea Estate, and was first planted in the 1870’s. It is now part of the Ambootia Group which owns nine gardens, the Ambootia, Chongtong, Happy Valley, Monteviot, Moondakotee, Mullootar, Nagri, Seepoydhoorah, and Sivitar tea estates. Six of which we have stocked and loved. In 2022 these nine gardens became part of a group run by Mr. Sushil Kumar Agarwal of the Lemongrass Organic Tea Estates Private Ltd. This LOTEPL Group have now become the most internationally sought after global company for Darjeeling teas. This is a rather special tea which we are pleased to add to our list of Darjeeling’s. The Ambootia Group are renowned for producing high quality, usually Organic, Fair Trade, and practices Bio-Dynamic production. The garden is situated in the hills of Kurseong and according to their promotional material the teas grown here are “as wholesome and organic as the pure air and soil that they grow in. Quintessentially the finest Darjeeling.”
