This tea is from the Dimbula area of the Balangoda District and is one of the highest and most famous Tea Gardens in Sri Lanka. It is only picked between September and November. The leaf is long, black and twisted making it quite unmistakable.
This is one of the most popular teas in France; apparently in my “big book of teas”, it is said, and “they go mad for it because it looks nice". This is a traditional afternoon tea. The two principal growing areas of Sri Lanka are Uva to the east and Dimbula to the west of the island.
The brew is a dark red colour and yet with a highly aromatic and simultaneously mild taste whilst still retaining its spicy and slightly malty characteristics.
