Colombian Granja La Esperanza Caturra De Altura Whole Coffee Beans Supremo

£2.50

I love this family's coffee, the Herrera clan, now in their 4th generation, from their original farm in Valle del Cauca, are famous for experimenting with different varieties, despite the Colombian Government in promoting their chosen varieties and trying to get everyone to sell either Supremo (screen 16) or Excelso (screen 14) grades. One can understand the effort to try and raise standards for the whole country but it can occasionally lower standards for growers already producing high quality coffee. This High Grown Caturra is a Supremo grade. The Caturra cultivar is a natural mutation of a Bourbon Red, originally a tall coffee shrub. The Caturra produces a higher yield than Bourbon due to the plant being shorter and with less distance between the branches.
