This famous Chinese green tea has been combined with the most popular ingredient added to tea, Bergamot. Earl Grey teas are our best-selling range of flavoured teas, and Gunpowder is probably one of our best-selling green teas. Gunpowder green tea is where freshly steamed leaved are rolled into tight balls and then dried. The oil of Bergamot is then added to the leaves post-production. It is entirely possible that green teas with added orange flavouring preceded black teas with added orange essence as green teas certainly are the normal in China which is where the ‘Earl Grey’ was initially produced.
I used hot 80oC water and infused for between two and three minutes, you should get three or four infusions.
