This large leafed black tea comes from China although it is decaffeinated in Germany. Looking like a Japanese Hoji Cha or Pan-fried tea, it does not resemble a typical Chinese tea. There are quite a few twigs in this tea and I even found and a small seed case. A gentle tea with a woody aromatic flavour, quite distinctive and very pleasant, I would be happy to drink this tea on a regular basis, you can’t tell it’s been decaffeinated. The Tea is decaffeinated using High Pressure Extraction with ‘Overcritical’ CO2; this protects from oxidation and means that there is no unpleasant aftertaste. A slight loss of raw material occurs but a better flavour arises as a result of this process.
