£3.50

Located in Gurúè in northern Zambezia province the 6,325 acres of Monte Metilile tea garden is the world’s largest bio-organic single tea plantation.

This area was once the most productive growing region in Africa, but Mozambique’s tea gardens lay fallow during decades of internal war, from 1977 until 1992. Realising the potential, the multi-national group, Asian Tea Group invested in bought the unworked farms and rejuvenated millions of mature tea trees, naturally purged of pesticides and chemical fertilisers. The group now produce around 2.5 million kilos of Fair Trade, UTZ certified, green, white, orthodox and CTC black teas. This tea whilst not as strong as an Assam has lovely body and taste.
