Echinacea Leaves Cut Leaf Infusion Immune System Colds Diabetes Anxiety Osteoarthritis

£3.50

Traditionally Echinacea is best known for its beneficial effect on the immune system and possible efficacy against the common cold. A review of 14 studies found that taking Echinacea may lower the risk of developing colds by 50%, however some researchers feel that the studies were poorly designed and possibly show no real benefit or simply from chance or placebo effect. Possible results from further tests show a potential to lower blood sugar levels, helping against Type 2 diabetes and heart disease. In test-tube studies Echinacea made cells more sensitive to insulin’s effects by activating the PPAR-y receptor. Echinacea may aid and reduce feelings of anxiety. In a 30-day study, adults with osteoarthritis found taking an echinacea extract reduced inflammation, pain and swelling, having previously not responding well to conventional non-steroidal inflammatory drugs. A cream containing Echinacea purpurea extract was shown to improve eczema symptoms. I really enjoyed the taste of this tea.

I steeped for 5 minutes at 100oC. and really enjoyed this drink, however, use this as a guideline and adjust according to your taste.

It goes without saying that if you're pregnant (or are under the doc for anything) caution should be exercised with herbal decoctions.
