 Clitoria ternatea, is a plant endemic to the Indonesian island of Ternate, one of the group of islands known as the Maluku Islands or the Moluccas or Spice Islands. Famous for Nutmeg, Mace, and Cloves, found exclusively there. In traditional Ayurvedic medicine, it is used for memory enhancing, improve cognitive functions, antistress, antidepressant, reduce anxiety, anticonvulsant, tranquilising, and sedative properties. In traditional Chinese medicine, the plant is used to promote female libido due to its similar appearance and hence scientific name of Clitoria. Extracts from this flower have pharmacological uses including, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, diuretic, local anaesthetic, antidiabetic, insecticidal, blood platelet aggregation inhibiting, and vascular muscle relaxing.
