Cramp Bark Loose Leaf Healthy Herbal Tea Infusion Relaxation Meditation Swollen Glands

£3.50

In herbal medicine the bark of Viburnum opulus, has long been used for menstrual cramps, as well as having plenty of other uses. The Guelder Rose with its white snowball shaped flowers, is a well-known native hedgerow plant, and its plentiful red berries provide winter food for hungry birds. In Siberia, a liquor is distilled from the berries, I suspect it has quite a kick as they are a little on the tart side. Cramp Bark has also been used to relieve swollen glands, treat for fluid retention, and help promote healthy kidney function. Studies with animals as well as in test tubes show that Cramp Bark may help prevent kidney stones and type II diabetes. What is interesting is that Cramp Bark is a deeply relaxing herb, and has been used as an aid to meditation, as well as producing a more relaxed state of well-being. The antispasmodic action of Cramp Bark is beneficial for women after childbirth, by reducing muscle tension without inhibiting muscle function. It also relieves after-birth cramps and regulates heavy bleeding. Cramp Bark is rich in valerianic acid, most commonly associated with the sedative herb Valerian, but without Valerian’s ‘interesting’ smell. Oh yes, it’s very helpful in preventing scurvy, being very high in vit C.

It goes without saying that if you're pregnant (or are under the doc for anything) caution should be exercised with herbal decoctions.
