We were so impressed with our Monteviot 2018’s special selected First Flush flown in from Darjeeling, that when we were offered a second flush (my favourite flush) from this organic estate we just had to give it a go. We are not disappointed. Monteviot was founded in 1856, making it one of the oldest Darjeeling Estates, the Monteviot Garden is found in the southern Kurseong valley at an altitude of 3600 feet. At 220 acres it is one of Darjeeling’s smallest Gardens.
This second plucking of the year is carried out in late May into June, the fresh tips are plucked by hand and then dried in large rooms, the drying leaves are then moved around by large rakes causing an unusual oxidation process. This creates a complex flavour that I am sure you will love. The aroma is exquisite, and the brew has a sweet almost nutty flavour, full bodied and an almost spicy after flavour, without a doubt one of the best teas we have had for a long time.
