This Estate is Darjeeling’s second oldest tea garden, established in 1854. At 2,100 metres, it is also one of the highest tea factories in the world. It is found just 3 miles north of the city of Darjeeling. Originally called Wilson Tea Estate after the Englishman, David Wilson, who founded it. In 1929, the then owner Banerjee combined it with the nearby Windsor Tea Estate and formed the Happy Valley Tea Estate. In 2007 the Ambootia Tea Group bought the estate and started replanting and switching to organic farming. The original bushes are very old the youngest are 80 years and some are 150. In 2008, hand-rolled tea from Happy Valley was offered for sale by both Harrods and Mariage Freres, in Paris. This combination of 1st and 2nd flush leaves is blended on the estate and is absolutely fantastic. I cannot recommend this highly enough. I brewed at 90oC for two and a half minutes, stunning…
