Ethiopian Washed Sidamo Oromia Guji Fair Trade Whole Coffee Beans Good Depth

£3.50

A lovely new coffee for us to tempt you with, this Fair Trade coffee which comes from the Oromia Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union. 65% of Ethiopian coffee is grown within the Oromia Region, the bulk of which is with Fair Trade, Organic or Rainforest certifications. Guji is one of the zones in Oromia and is the name of the mill where the coffee is processed. This particular coffee is a Grade 2, which in Ethiopia signifies that it is washed. Grade 1 coffee is rare showing 0-3 defects, Grade 2 allows 4-12 defects making it still a Premium cup. In fact, this coffee scored 83 by SCAA, very good. The coffee comes from Heirloom varietals and according to the cupping notes is, and I quote, “Sweet juicy body, mild acidity and strawberry flavours – aromas of jasmine tea and creamy mouthfeel”, I’m not sure about any of that, but it is a lovely cup. The Sidamo region, south of Addis Ababa is highly productive due to the high altitude, ample rainfall, optimum temperature and rich soil.
