Kirishima is in the Kagoshima Prefecture on the Island of Kyushu, it is famous for its teas and in August 2018 took places first to seventh in a Tea Ceremony Competition held in Shizuoka, halfway between Tokyo and Nagoya. We have included a picture of the winners holding a banner in a Kirishima tea garden. The organic Sencha leaves and the organic rice are grown in this Prefecture. The aroma and taste are wonderful, a really fresh brew with hardly any astringency and what is there is complimented by the taste of the puffed rice. Genmai Cha is traditionally an afternoon drink or drunk after a meal, I think you can enjoy this any time of the day.
I use hot 70oC - 80oC water and only infuse for a couple of minutes but you can get many infusions from this high quality traditional Japanese speciality.
You will receive 55 grams of this tea for £5.00 this will allow you to make between 27 cups and 55 cups of tea. Two grams per cup, this works out between eighteen pence per cup and nine pence per cup. We also sell larger quantities of this tea at a more economical rate; the price will therefore be lower.
