El Salvador Las Lajas Co-Operative Rainforest Alliance Coffee Beans

The Las Lajas co-operative from the north-western province of Santa Ana, is situated close to Lake Cuatepeque at 1250 metres above sea level. Founded in 1980 with 240 members, from 30 farms, the co-operative aims to generate economic growth and social benefits for the community. All co-operative members benefit from the profits made.
In 2012, the co-operative sold five containers of specialty coffee at an average of 45 pence more per kilo than the global market price. A container holds 250 bags of coffee, each weighing 69 Kilos. The cooperative used the additional revenue roughly £40,000 to pay off the debt it incurred at the beginning of the decade while struggling to cover the cost of production. Great coffee and a great cause.
You will receive 90 grams of roasted coffee beans for £5.00. At 5 grams per Cafetière you should be able to make 18 to 36 cups, depending on cup size and personal taste. This works out at between twenty-seven pence and thirteen pence per cup.
At Gently Stirred every order is gift wrapped so if you're buying for a number of different people just add that information at checkout.
