This is our 2018’s selected First Flush flown in from Darjeeling. We were so impressed we bought a chest of it. Founded in 1856, making it one of the oldest Darjeeling Estates, the Monteviot Garden is found in the southern Kurseong valley at an altitude of 3600 feet. At 220 acres it is one of Darjeeling’s smallest Gardens.
This first plucking of the year was carried out in late March and by late April we are offering it for sale. The fresh tips are plucked by hand and then dried in large rooms the drying leaves are then moved around by large rakes causing an unusual oxidation process giving rise to a mixture of green, oolong and black leaves. This creates a complex flavour that I am sure you will love. The aroma is exquisite, and the brew has a sweet almost nutty flavour, quite astonishing, without a doubt one of the best teas we have had for a long time.
You will receive 25 grams of this tea for £5.00 this will allow you to make a between 12 cups and 36 cups of tea. Two grams per cup, this works out at between forty-two pence and fourteen pence per cup when re-infused. We also sell larger quantities of this tea at a more economical rate; the price will therefore be lower.
