This is a top-grade Costa Rican coffee and comes from the eastern entrance to the Corcovado, the last significant virgin rain forest in Central America.
It is populated by a who's who of endangered species, including the puma, tapir, poison dart frogs, crocodile and jaguar. One fifth of the visitors to the park are researchers studying the ecosystem.
This coffee is grown at very high altitudes on mountains facing the Pacific, to the west rather than those facing the Atlantic. It is harvested between November and March and is fully washed. The trees are a mixture of Caturra and Catimor. Scoring 84.5 by the Speciality Coffee Association this is a great coffee.
