Naranjo rivals the better known Costa Rican coffee growing area of Tarrazu, in fact in 2016 a Naranjo farm won the ‘Cup of Excellence’ award presented by the Speciality Coffee Association of Costa Rica with a score of 93.4 out of 100. This Naranjo is traded direct with the local plantation owners, without any intermediaries, giving a greater return to the producers allowing for better harvests sales and prospects.
This Altura is grown between 1,200 and 1,700 metres and the cherries are hand selected in order to guarantee the best coffee beans.
The coffee is slightly malty and nutty with a high citrusy after note. Apparently this coffee as 800 different scent components giving it its incomparable taste. I would love to know how they arrive at this number, regardless, this is a wonderful coffee and a great addition to our range.
