Ti Kuan Yin Organic Top Grade Oolong Iron Goddess of Mercy Semi Fermented Chinese Tea

  • This exceedingly fine organic Oolong tea is one of the most revered and sought after of all Chinese teas.
  • You may often find it written as Tie Guan Yin or Tieguanyin and in English as Iron Goddess Oolong, Iron Buddha or Tea of the Iron Bodhisattva.
  • During production the tea leaves are hand rolled into small, compact balls similar to a loose Gunpowder type tea.
  • What is most noticeable about this organic oolong tea is the very flowery, clean and orchid scent when first brewed.
  • The liquor is transparent and bright with a long sweet after taste.
  • This Organic Anxi Ti Kuan Yin Oolong is more typically closer to a green tea with only a small amount of oxidation.
  • This differentiates it from the Muzha Ti Kuan Yin which is more traditionally roasted after fermentation giving it a stronger taste.
  • I steeped the leaves at 80o although apparently they can be infused at higher temperatures.
  • At this lower temperature I left the Iron Goddess for five minutes to steep, obviously at higher temperatures you would infuse for less time. I loved the fragrance and the delicate taste.
  • A wonderful tea to enjoy when you have time to relax. You will receive 15 grams of tea for £5.00 this will allow you to make between 8 and 24 cups of tea. Two grams per cup, this can be re-infused up to three times. This works out at between sixty-three pence and twenty-one pence per cup.
  • At Gently Stirred every order is gift wrapped so if you're buying for a number of different people just add that information at checkout
